It is important to keep safety in mind year-round, but here is a pdf that gives some safety tips specifically for calving season.
At CPI/Mid-Nebraska Lubricants we put a high priority on propane safety. Our propane drivers and service technicians are all certified through the Certified Employee Training Program. This summer we mailed out propane safety information to our propane customers. Included in that information was a brochure with a scratch and sniff. If you or anyone in your family has difficulty smelling that odor we'd highly recommend that you purchase a gas detector. Propane is a safe fuel when used properly. If you smell gas, here are some things you should do:
· NO FLAMES OR SPARKS Immediately put out all smoking materials and other open flames. Do not operate lights, appliances, telephones, or cell phones. Flames or sparks from these sources can trigger an explosion or fire.
· LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY
· SHUT OFF THE GAS Turn off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank, if it is safe to do so. To close the valve, turn it to the right (clockwise).
· REPORT THE LEAK From a neighbor's home or other nearby building away from the gas leak, call us right away. If you can't reach us, call 911 or your local fire department.
· DO NOT RETURN TO THE BUILDING OR AREA until our qualified technician determines it is safe to do so.
· GET YOUR SYSTEM CHECKED BEFORE REUSE Make sure our service technician or another qualified technician checks your system before using it.
We appreciate your business. Please call us if you have any questions or if we can be of service to you.
