Hastings Wellhead Protection

The City of Hastings, working with the Upper Big Blue NRD and the Little Blue NRD, are proposing new regulation management practices to help limit the impact of high levels of nitrogen in the groundwater serving the City of Hastings.

As proposed, the new requirements specify dates during which nitrogen fertilizers may be applied, quantities, and when nitrification inhibitors must be used.

There is an informational meeting scheduled for 6:30 pm on February 7th at the Adams County Fairgrounds; a public hearing will follow at 7:30 pm.
