CPI had their annual pre-harvest training presented by KFSA (Kansa Farm Service Agency) covering several safety topics, many of which are required annual or semi-annual training by OSHA. This is done as a refresher for those employees who will be working in the grain locations this fall as we prepare for a safe harvest with no incidents with the employees.
CPI wants all of the employees to be able to enjoy their families at the end of their day or work shift. Harvest can be a busy time with an increased risk of an incident. Among the many items that were discussed were the OHSA 1910.272 Grain Handling Standard, General Elevator Safety Procedures, Rail car safety, and fall rescue.
Chief Industries also play a crucial role with walking around some of the grain handling equipment such as leg and conveyor maintenance, boot and head sections wear points, and what items can put undue stress on the grain bins. This training was held on August 17-19, 2015 with 160 employees present.
