Dry Fertilizer Plant Construction Completed

[HASTINGS, NE June 5, 2020] — Cooperative Producers, Inc., has completed the rebuilding of its dry fertilizer plant in Hastings, NE. The plant features 42,000 tons of storage space with the ability to load a 24-ton semi in less than eight minutes through a state-of-the-art 400-ton blending tower. The rebuilt terminal will once again serve as CPI’s primary retail/wholesale dry fertilizer plant.

“We are very proud of all the hard work our employees and contractors put into the cleanup and rebuilding of our facility,” said Laremy Seelow, Vice President of Agronomy at Cooperative Producers, Inc. “Extra effort was needed to overcome the large amounts of rain during cleanup last summer and the COVID-19 pandemic during final construction. Throughout it all, we worked as a team to reconstruct a wonderful facility quickly and safely.” He added, “It’s great to be able to say we are officially up and running again.”

The original dry fertilizer plant was completed in August of 2018. On May 23, 2019 a fire claimed the facility. Officials with the Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause to be natural in origin as a result of a lightning strike. CPI immediately began cleaning up the site and planning a rebuild for full service operation by summer 2020.
