Student Custom Applicator Sponsorship Program

Do you have an interest in custom application and technology? CPI has partnered with Central Community College in Hastings to create a Student Custom Applicator Sponsorship Program. We will help pay for your tuition while you gain the knowledge and experience needed to become a successful applicator.

Sponsorship Benefits:
  • Tuition assistance at Central Community College in Hastings
  • Flexible employment (full or part-time) while attending classes
  • Following program completion, you’ll get 2 years of guaranteed employment (subject to performance) as a Custom Applicator with CPI
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Plan to enroll in the Agricultural Science Program - Precision Technician Certificate at Central Community College in Hastings
  • Valid US Driver’s License and satisfactory MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)

Internship Program

CPI’s goal is to provide the future leaders of agriculture with a fun and educational internship experience. Our internships help the future generation gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience while exploring career paths at CPI. Students are provided with real  life situations that will challenge them to put their education to use.   • Student must be pursuing a degree in agronomy, ag business, ag econ, animal science, business management, marketing/communications or a related field
  • Student must have completed their sophomore or junior year of academic courses from a university/college OR completed their freshman year of academic courses from a community or trade college

Summer Internship Opportunities

Agronomy Intern
The Agronomy Intern will build knowledge of proper use of crop protection products, plant nutrition, precision agriculture, seed and other services offered at CPI to area producers. The intern will conduct field scouting for crop injury, weed control, application proficiency, test plots, hybrid and product comparisons. Additional projects will be assigned during internship.
Energy Accounting Intern
The Energy Accounting Intern will assist with a wide variety of energy division accounting/finance activities. This internship is an excellent way to gain practical, firsthand experience in the co-op industry. Various projects will be assigned during the internship.

IT Intern
The IT intern will build knowledge in the infrastructure and systems within CPI. They will assist with the help desk and end-user support in various levels. The intern will have broad LAN knowledge and an understanding of a wide variety of operating systems. They will have superior problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Supply Chain Management Intern
The Supply Chain Management Intern will build knowledge completing a variety of assignments related to day-to-day operations and processes. The intern will learn supply chain best practices (e.g. forecasting, distribution, and logistics).
Accounting Intern
The Accounting Intern will assist the Accounting Department with day-to-day activities. The intern will attain knowledge in purchases and sales contracts, invoicing patrons, product transfers, stock additions/adjustment, reconciliations, and other required transactions. Various projects will be assigned during the internship.
Feed Operations Intern
The Feed Operations Intern will build knowledge and understanding of the operations of a feed mill through the process of manufacturing and delivering feed. The intern will assist with all aspects of our Feed Division from ordering products and maintaining inventory to logistics and FSMA record keeping. Various projects will be assigned during the internship.
Multimedia Intern
The Multimedia Intern will collaborate with the advertising department to plan, coordinate, shoot, edit, and produce videos that are consistent with CPI’s brand as well as other day-to-day activities and assigned projects.
Applicator Intern
The Applicator Intern will build knowledge of both liquid and dry application and how the various areas in agronomy impact application. The intern will also learn all aspects of applicator safety including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), labels, and driving.

Grain Origination/Merchandising Intern
The Grain Origination/Merchandising Intern will build knowledge in the areas of grain origination and merchandising. The intern will ride along with grain originators to develop an understanding of origination. Various projects within grain origination and merchandising will be assigned during the internship.

Operations Intern
The Operations Intern will build knowledge in various aspects of the co-op’s operations division. The intern will observe various leadership and management styles through hands on training in day-to-day operations. Various projects will be assigned during the internship.
