Hastings, NE. – Cooperative Producers, Inc., has announced its plans for the construction of a state-of-the-art dry fertilizer plant.
The plant will feature a 42,000-ton storage facility that will have the ability to load a 24-ton semi in less than 8 minutes through a state-of-the-art 400-ton blending tower. CPI currently retails 16 different dry fertilizer products as a part of their agronomy program through 11 different dry fertilizer plants. The new terminal will serve as CPI’s primary retail/wholesale dry fertilizer plant.
55 acres directly east of the CPI corporate headquarters have been purchased from Morrison Enterprises. “The plant will be located at the center of CPI’s geographic trade area which brings maximum efficiency from a transportation perspective,” said Allan Zumpfe, CEO of Cooperative Producers, Inc. He adds, “We are excited about the project and how it will better serve our customers.” Along with having an easily accessible truck corridor, both BNSF Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad serve the site, making it a prime location for the plant.
Construction of the dry fertilizer plant is targeted for an early 2018 completion, with the groundbreaking to be held in April. Full-service operation by spring of 2018 is anticipated with limited operations available sooner. Further details will be available as the project progresses.
