At CPI, our goal is to provide the future leaders of agriculture and business with a fun, educational and meaningful internship experience. A summer internship at CPI is more than something to add to your resume—you’ll work alongside industry professionals, take on meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience you can carry into the classroom and your future career.
Whether you’re interested in agronomy, grain, energy, operations, marketing, technology or another area of our cooperative, you’ll experience real-world situations that challenge you to put your education into practice. Along the way, you’ll learn how a farmer-owned cooperative works, build valuable skills and connections, and explore where a career at CPI could take you.

Agronomy Applicator
Gain hands-on experience with CPI’s Agronomy team while learning the day-to-day responsibilities of a professional applicator. Interns will work alongside experienced employees to learn crop protection and fertilizer application, equipment operation and maintenance, product handling, safety procedures, and the role timely, accurate application plays in helping growers succeed.
Agronomy Sales
Gain hands-on experience supporting growers through soil testing, field mapping, product recommendations, crop monitoring, test plots, and other agronomic services. Interns will also explore emerging technologies, including drones, while learning how CPI’s Agronomy team builds relationships and helps producers make informed decisions.
Energy Division
Gain practical experience in the cooperative energy industry while supporting CPI’s Energy Division with accounting, finance, sales, and other day-to-day activities. Interns will work on a variety of projects while learning how the division serves customers and supports CPI’s operations.
Digital Media or Advertising
Get hands-on experience creating content for CPI’s marketing and communications efforts. Interns will assist with video production and editing, photography, social media content, and graphic design while working with employees and customers throughout CPI’s trade territory.
Feed Operations
Experience the day-to-day operations of CPI’s Feed Division, from weighing and mixing ingredients to bagging and loading bulk feed. Interns will learn about feed and mineral products, fulfill customer orders, complete required paperwork, and gain a better understanding of how CPI serves livestock producers.
Grain Origination & Merchandising
Learn the business behind moving grain from the farm to the marketplace. Interns will gain exposure to commodity buying and selling, market analysis, transportation and logistics, day-to-day grain operations, and building strong relationships with producers.
Operations Management
Gain hands-on experience with the many moving parts of cooperative operations while developing leadership skills. Interns will work alongside CPI employees in fertilizer plants, grain elevators, scale operations, and other areas while also having opportunities to shadow additional positions throughout the cooperative.
Internship Details
May 17–August 6, 2027
12-week summer internship | 40 hours per week
Requirements
- Student must be pursuing a degree in a related field
- Student must have completed their sophomore or junior year of academic courses from a university/college OR completed their freshman year of academic courses from a community or trade college
- Student must be in good academic standing
- Student must have a valid US driver's license and a satisfactory MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
